From the first stroke to the final shadow

Time-lapse videos that show how my drawings come to life

At the end of 2024, an artist and personal friend asked me if I could show her the drawing process behind some of my pieces: how I begin, which parts are especially important to me, and where I spend the most time.

After seeing other artists share their process, I gave it a try—thinking it would be as simple as setting up my phone and pressing record… a big mistake! In the end, I improved my setup: a special light with a clamp, a sturdy desk, and a window to my left. That’s when I started recording a few of my drawing sessions for her… until I finally felt brave enough to share them with the world.

And now they’re here – I hope you enjoy them!

What is a Time-Lapse?

A Time-Lapse is a video technique where images are captured at regular intervals over a long period and then played back at a higher speed. This makes it possible to watch in just a few seconds or minutes a process that actually took hours or even days.

When it comes to drawing, a Time-Lapse shows the entire artistic process in a sped-up version, allowing you to see the artwork evolve from the first sketch to the final result.
