Longing for Vasarely

Throughout my artistic journey, different artists have influenced me in profound ways. From the ancient Greek masters to contemporary artists like Jesus Mari Lazkano – from all of them I have tried to draw reference and inspiration. One of them is without doubt Victor Vasarely.

His works, filled with optical effects, impeccable technique and pure geometry, always bring me back to an idea of clarity and the original thought behind a final result. So when I first saw his work "Amour" (1940–45) – so far removed from his own characteristic style – it was etched into my memory forever.

His simple line, barely more than a single stroke, with such simplicity and yet so full of emotion, has stayed with me since I first saw it in an art book in the library of my Faculty of Fine Arts. This is my small tribute to his legacy.
