Original Drawings

"On my knee"

Technique: Graphite on vertical paper
Size: A5 · 14,8 × 21 cm

It's not a key moment in the series, or in the plot, but the image stayed with me. The closeness and simplicity of the gesture — just crouching down — got under my skin. Drawing that light and shadow was harder than it looks, but absolutely worth it.

"Just us"

Technique: Graphite on vertical paper
Size: A5 · 14,8 × 21 cm

One of the things that completely got me hooked is that unspoken understanding between them. Those small moments, gestures and glances that say so much more than the most complex dialogue. It's in those moments that we feel the connection — between them, and with us — and that's what brought small scenes like this one into my little artistic world.

"S19 Maya Bishop"

Technique: Graphite on vertical paper
Size: A5 · 14,8 × 21 cm

Drawing Maya isn't about getting the face right. It's about whether you can put that much strength into a piece of paper. The determination, the discipline, the refusal to break — I wanted all of it in the way she looks up. It's one of her finest qualities, one of her greatest strengths, and part of what makes her one of a kind.

"Freedom"

Technique: Graphite on vertical paper
Size: A5 · 14,8 × 21 cm

Possibly one of the drawings that has involved me the most, both as a person and as an artist. Not so much because of the moment itself, but because of what it represents, in every sense. Sensuality, freedom, breaking the chains that keep us from being free. There's a story behind it — of someone who wanted it but couldn't have it, because of where she lives — and that's what turned it into a hymn to the freedom of every one of us.

"Let it go"

Technique: Graphite on vertical paper
Size: A5 · 14,8 × 21 cm

"I think the biggest lesson for me in life and in this career has been learning to let go of control. You prepare, you do the work, and then you just have to trust and let it go."
"You can't control the outcome, you can only control how much heart you put into it. The rest... you just have to let it flow."

— Stefania Spampinato

"Danielle I"

Technique: Graphite on vertical paper
Size: A5 · 14,8 × 21 cm

The first of my "in one go" challenges from the past three years. At a moment when I needed to disconnect from the world, this image came with me — and, determined to draw it in a single sitting, I made it over several hours in a small corner of a little village in the Palatinate region.

"Together"

Technique: Graphite on vertical paper
Size: A5 · 14,8 × 21 cm

I know the image comes from a difficult moment, one where Maya pulls away from such a pure gesture from Carina. But that moment — of support, of holding, of "I'm here with you" — struck me as terribly tender. Not just the feeling of someone else's company, but that sense of "stay, don't let yourself get lost" that those two hands gripping her arm convey, like an anchor.

"One last dance"

Technique: Graphite on landscape paper
Size: A4 · 29,7 x 21 cm

When Danielle said that FRR9 would be her last convention related to Station 19, I couldn’t help but have this image come to mind. That last dance, before closing a door.

And with it came this drawing, which holds and represents so much more than just a single moment. It is the simplicity of love in an instant that belongs only to them.

"Our Home - Maya"

Technique: Graphite on vertical paper
Size: A4 · 21 × 29,7 cm

- I want a place where we can build a life for us and our new family, and a garden where I can plant oregano, and basilico and rosmarino...
- And a backyard with space to work out...
- And a table outside to have friends over when it's nice...
- Our house.
- Our home.

"Stefania in Color"

Technique: Graphite on vertical paper
Size: A4 · 21 × 29,7 cm

My only colour piece — an experiment I didn't expect to enjoy so much. Trying to catch that smile in colour was a challenge, and honestly, Stefania deserved the attempt.

"That's how you know"

Technique: Graphite on landscape paper
Size: A4 · 21 × 29,7 cm

“I remember the first time I saw my wife at our wedding. For a few seconds, everything stopped. Nothing else existed. It was just me and her against the world”
— Maya Bishop.

"Stef & Dani I"

Technique: Graphite on landscape paper
Size: A4 · 21 × 29,7 cm

Knowing that seeing Danielle and Stefania together again is going to be difficult, this original carries more weight. I don't remember when, or where — but does it matter? That connection between them is something unique, and in that sense every drawing that brings them together carries something special.

"A little of you"

Technique: Graphite on landscape paper
Size: A4 · 21 × 29,7 cm

"I wanna have another version of you that I can count my blessings on."

A unique and tender scene, full of love and feeling. A look, filled with doubt at first and love afterwards. A way of saying I love you without using words. Two people, one heart.

My first drawing in ballpoint pen.
